Broadcasters went too far during India and Sri Lanka match as they cut the host nation's national anthem short for a TV commercial. Dsport has the telecasting rights for the Nidahas tri-nation series 2018.
Everyone is familiar with the custom of both teams standing for national anthems before the game. Fans and players respect national anthem of both teams. Sri Lanka has, relatively, a longer national anthem and Dsport took this opportunity of milking money. The broadcasters started showing advertisement in the middle of Sri Lanka's national anthem. Fans were not happy with this move and they took Twitter to criticize the insult.
Here are the tweets:
How anti national is @DSportINLive, playing an advertisement during Sri Lanka's national anthem being played. Deplorable! #INDvSL #NidahasOnDSport

#DSSport Channel telecasting ‘live’ India-Srilanka T20 simply decides to shove in advertisements while Srilanka national anthem is on!!! 18.56pm!! Quickly shows all and is live again at last beat! So much for respect of a national anthem.

DSports just went into an advertisement break in between the rendition of Sri Lankan national anthem and returned just in time for the end of the anthem. This is just not done even if #SriLanka anthem is realllllyyy looooong #INDvsSL #NidahasTrophy2018 #NidahasOnDSport

Sri Lanka national anthem is so long, @DSportINLive cut to a commercial break halfway through it & it was still going on when they cut back to it. But on a serious note, broadcaster shouldn’t be doing that. It’s insulting. #SLvIND #INDvSL

@DSportINLive its very bad on your part to cut for advertisement when National Anthem of #SriLanka is being played, you are disrespecting a country, you might do the same for India too in future, this is not done #SLvIND

What the hell? What the actual hell? The broadcaster cut Lankan's anthem in half. This is so not done. Extremely ugly #DSport #SLvIND #NidahasTrophy

DSport not cool to cut Sri Lanka’s national anthem and go for a commercial break. #INDvSL

Sri Lankan National anthem cut short with an ad break. Expecting ads between balls too. https://t.co/sNOUjnQpFW

It was the opening encounter of Nidahas Trophy 2018 which Sri Lanka sealed with ease. India, playing without their key players, looked good with the bat except for the last few overs where batting wasn't up to the mark. Shikhar Dhawan scored a blistering 90, missing out on his first T20I hundred. Sri Lanka looked in the chase from the beginning. They hunt down the target of 175 with 9 balls left and 5 wickets in hand, riding on Kusal Perera's 37-ball 66.
