Bangladesh announce squad for Nidahas trophy, elect Shakib to lead

The tri series starts March 6.

Bangladesh Cricket Board, on Monday,  announced their squad for the Nidahas trophy 2018, a T20 tri-series starting March 6 involving India and Sri Lanka as well. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 16-member squad by naming  Shakib Al Hasan as the captain and Mahmudullah Riyad as his deputy.

Four cricketers- Mohammad Saifuddin, Mahedi Hasan, Zakir Hasan, Afif Hossain, who were the part of recently concluded two-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, have been dropped from the squad of Nidahas Trophy.On the contrary, opener Imrul Kayes alongside Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed, have been called up and added again in the squad for the upcoming battle.

Nidahas Trophy 2018 is scheduled to begin from 6 March, involving hosts Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India in Sri Lanka. Bangladesh will play their first match against another visiting side of the tournament India on 8 March. Participating teams will play two matches against each other. The tournament will come to an end with the final match on 18 March. Meanwhile, legendary West Indian pacer and bowling coach of Bangladesh - Courtney Walsh will act as head coach for the tournament.

 All of the matches will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo under lights.

March 10, 2018 – Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh

March 12, 2018 – Sri Lanka vs India

March 16, 2018 – Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh

March 18, 2018 – Final
