Team India’s bowling coach Bharat Arun believes that the visiting team is capable of beating New Zealand in their own backyard.

After winning the T20I series and losing the ODI series, the Indian team will now play Test cricket against New Zealand. The two-Test series will begin from February 21. Currently, at the helm of the points table of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2019-21, the visiting side is believed to have what it takes to beat the Kiwis in New Zealand.

NZ v IND 2020: “Dealing with failures shapes you as a person and player”, says Ross Taylor

Bharat Arun told Sportstar, “New Zealand is a combative side but we have the team to beat it in its backyard. We were without six of our World Cup players. Sometimes, it is not all about winning. It’s about trying out cricketers in different positions and we might lose some matches in the bargain.

The wind is a big factor in New Zealand, especially when playing with the red ball. The bowling coach mentioned that the Indian pacers will take turns bowling against the wind. In fact, even spinners could be asked to bowl against the wind and the pacers will be rotated at the other end.

Arun said, “Not one, but each of our pacemen could take turns bowling against the wind. We could also ask the spinner to bowl against the wind and rotate the pacemen from the other end.

Delhi pacer Ishant Sharma has joined the team in Wellington on Tuesday (February 18). His experience will come in handy for the rest of the squad. Yes, Ishant will join us. In the conditions here, the pacemen can bowl a bit up, than they did in Australia,” he added.
