The Sunday morning of India cricket fans was delightful as wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant scored a quickfire 70 runs in just 65 balls against New Zealand XI in the tour match. He smashed 4 sixes and 4 fours each before getting out to Daryl Mitchell. 

Pant had scored just seven runs in the first innings and he was dismissed by spinner Ish Sodhi. But he got his revenge in the second innings by smashing the leggie for a couple of sixes.

Other batsmen who scored runs are Hanuma Vihari (101*) in the first innings, and Mayank Agarwal (81*) in the second. Pant was asked to keep wickets in the match which means he might be picked over Wriddhiman Saha for the first Test.

India will also look to shortlist the openers, and for now, skipper Virat Kohli looks confident with Prithvi Shaw and Agarwal, although they have added Shubman Gill in the squad after Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the series.
