Ashwin has not played ODI or T20I cricket since 2017.

Indian cricket team lost the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand by 3-0 and that has raised a lot of questions on social media. The Delhi Capitals (DC) co-owner Parth Jindal, head of Jindal South-West Sports (JSW Sports) has also put a couple of questions on Twitter.

Parth questioned the exclusion of R Ashwin and Rishabh Pant from the side. While Pant was in the squad but didn't get an opportunity, it's been a long time India has considered Ashwin for white-ball format.

Writing that the win in World Cup 2019 semi-final wasn't a fluke for New Zealand, he tweeted, "Don’t know why @ashwinravi99 is not in this team! There seems to be an aversion to wicket-takers! After whitewashing the kiwis in T20’s the Kiwis showing India that the semi-final victory in the World Cup was no fluke. India needs wicket-takers and players with X factor."

Adding another tweet for Pant, he wrote that the youngster should not be warming bench at this age. He deserves to play and not wasted.

"And why carry @RishabhPant17 only for him to warm the bench? Surely he would have benefited from playing against New Zealand A or domestic cricket? To see a player as talented as him not play the 5th T20 and now the 3rd ODI makes no sense #Xfactor," wrote Jindal in a later tweet.
