Henry Nicholls was satisfied with his overall performance during the three-match series against India as the left-hand opener contributed nicely at the top of the order to aid the Kiwi juggernaut towards a rare 3-0 ODI whitewash. 

Nicholls gave New Zealand solid starts right throughout the series alongside fellow opener Martin Guptill, making scores of 78, 41 and 80 - the last knock at Bay Oval this Tuesday (February 11) earning him a well-deserved "Player-of-the-Match" award as it propelled the Black Caps to a five-wicket victory despite chasing a strong 297-run target.

"To come out here and make it 3-0, which is something we wanted to achieve before the start of the series, but I guess heading into today knowing that again it's a chance for us to put up a good performance, it's nice to be standing here after a good run-chase," Nicholls said at the post-match presentation ceremony in Mount Maunganui. 

The 28-year-old then thanked Guptill for all his support at the other end. "Nice to put up some partnerships (with Guptill) and obviously the way he played today to get us ahead in the run-chase and I think it was important heading into the back end, his experience at the top certainly helps me," Nicholls said. 

"He (Guptill) scores so quickly and I can just stand there, it's great to play the second fiddle and really caught up on that 100-run stand."

Nicholls is also hoping to continue his good run during the two-match Test series, beginning February 21 in Wellington, where he'll be batting in the middle-order. 

"Fortunate enough throughout the series to put up a good opening stand in all three games. Nice to reflect on this moment after beating them 3-0 and looking forward to the Test series," he concluded.
