New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has been declared fit on Monday (February 10) to lead the hosts in the third and final One Day International (ODI) against India, as the Kiwis are in the hunt for the series clean sweep on Tuesday (February 11) at Bay Oval.

He has been out of action against India since the third T20 International in Hamilton on January 29 after he suffered an inflamed AC joint in his left shoulder while fielding.

In Williamson’s absence, New Zealand lost the final two T20Is and eventually suffered a 5-0 whitewash against the Men in Blue before Tom Latham led the hosts to victory in the first two ODIs, clinched the T20I series by winning the games by four wickets in Hamilton and 22 runs in Auckland.

Well, the right-hander is now set to return to captain New Zealand at Bay Oval after getting the all-clear on his troublesome shoulder to clean sweep the ODI series against India.

On the eve of the final ODI, Kiwi’s stand-in head coach Shane Jurgensen said of Kane: “He certainly had a full workout and all is on track for tomorrow. He’s looking good to be ready to play. We’ll have one final look at him in the morning and make sure nothing happens overnight.”

Noteworthy, Tim Southee (stomach bug), Mitchell Santner (stomach bug) and Scott Kuggeleijn (viral fever) are currently struggling to recover from the respective illness and the hosts forced to add Ish Sodhi and Blair Tickner to their squad for the final ODI against India.
