Opener Ajinkya Rahane is reported to be back in the ODI side after 2 years for the series against New Zealand. Rahane, who last played against South Africa in 2018, was left out of the side after India started using KL Rahul as their back up opener.

But if reports from Mumbai Mirror are to be believed, Rahane is likely to be a part of the squad again.

The news of Rahane's chances for the New Zealand tour has left fans upset. They aren't ready to welcome the 31-year-old back in the side. India already has openers in the side to work with, and Rahane's inclusion means the team may try him in the middle order.

The three-match ODI contest will begin on February 5.
