Indian team came very close to winning the T20I series | GettyTeam India ended their sojourn down under with a loss to New Zealand in the T20I series with a margin of 2-1. India had lost the first T20I by a record 80 runs, won the second T20I by 7 wickets and lost the deciding third T20I by 4 runs to the home team.

The Indian team was favored to win the limited overs’ series against New Zealand and they did start with a win in ODI series with a margin of 4-1. However, the home team prevailed in the shortest format as the Indian team chose to experiment and give game time to their bench in order to get a look at the options for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup.

Keeping everything in consideration, Team COC presents to you the Players’ ratings for the Indian team for the recently concluded T20I series against New Zealand.

COC presents Team India Players’ Rating for the T20I series:

Rohit Sharma- 3/10
Rohit Sharma was the only Indian batsman to hit a fifty in the series for India and though he didn’t do much in the remaining matches, still managed to top score with 89 runs in the series. However, his scratchy innings in the deciding T20I in Seddon Park may have played a role in India losing the match and the series.

Shikhar Dhawan- 3/10
Shikhar Dhawan had a quiet ODI series and was hoping to make a comeback in the T20I series, but his lean run continued with 64 runs in 3 innings.

Vijay Shankar- 5/10

Vijay Shankar can say that this T20I series can be the one where he got to show his batting prowess in full. With his invaluable innings in the fifth ODI, he had shown that he could hold the fort on his own, but in the T20I series he was asked to bat at no.3 and he slammed 84 runs with a best of 43 in the last T20I match.

Rishabh Pant- 5/10

Rishabh Pant had a lukewarm T20I series in which he played a huge role in India winning the second T20I match. He tried his best to help India chase down 213 in the last T20I, but couldn’t do much. However, his way of dismissals and shot selection were a topic of discussion.

Dinesh Karthik- 5/10

The designated finisher failed to finish a match for India for the first time in the last T20I. Though he made 33*, India still fell 4 runs short of the target, However, Karthik has done enough to claim a spot in the World Cup squad in his new role.

Krunal Pandya - 5/10

Krunal Pandya scored 46 runs and picked 4 wickets, however, the economy rate of 9.91 can be a bit disheartening. However, his hitting abilities were on full swing in the final T20I, when he along with Karthik, almost did the unthinkable and brought India closer to an improbable win.

Hardik Pandya- 3/10

Hardik Pandya had one innings of notice, a 21 and picked 3 wickets but the figures could have been better if the Indian fielding would have done their job in the third T20I.

MS Dhoni- 3/10

MS Dhoni scored 61 runs in the three-match T20I, but at a strike rate of 117.30, it is quite evident that he should bat higher in the order as an accumulator instead of lower down when you need big shots.

Kuldeep Yadav- 3/10

Kuldeep Yadav played one match, picking 2/26 and doing what he does in the best possible way.

Yuzvendra Chahal- 2/10

Yuzvendra Chahal had a poor outing in the two T20Is, as he managed just one wicket in the series at an economy of 9 runs per over.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar- 3/10

Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away runs at an economy of 9.41 and picked 3 wickets in the series.

Khaleel Ahmed- 2/10

Khaleel Ahmed picked 4 wickets in the three-match T20I series but at the economy of 10.16 showed that he still had a long way to go in international cricket and has a lot to learn before becoming a finished product.
