New Zealand and India are currently facing each other in the first Twenty20 international at Westpac Stadium, Wellington.

India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Kiwis got off to a flier as openers Tim Seifert (84) and Colin Munro (34) put on 86 runs for the first wicket in just 8.2 overs.

While Indian bowlers were facing the heat, the fielding was not up to the mark as well. Dinesh Karthik grassed a skier off Siefert. However, he made up for it with an acrobatic effort to get rid of the debutant Daryl Mitchell.

During the 15th over of the innings, Mitchell tried to blast Hardik Pandya over long on but the shot lacked the timing. Karthik, who was placed on the boundary, took the catch with a great presence of mind. Karthik realised that he is losing his balance so he throws the ball up and came back in acrobatically after crossing the ropes, leapt and then completed the grab.

Here’s the video:

Coming to the match, the Black Caps posted a mammoth 219/9 in their 20 overs thanks to a couple of cameo at the fag end of the innings from Ross Taylor (23 off 14 balls) and Scott Kuggeleijn (20 off 7 balls). Pandya claimed two wickets for India while Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Krunal Pandya and Yuzvendra Chahal chipped in with wicket apiece.
