Colin Munro will continue at the top of the order in New Zealand's batting line-up versus India during the three-match T20I series that begins in Wellington on February 6, confirmed captain Kane Williamson.

Martin Guptill, who got ruled out of the shortest format battle after sustaining a back injury in the practice session before the fourth ODI, has also made way for all-rounder Jimmy Neesham in the updated squad.

"Martin [Guptill] is ruled out of the series and we have a different squad altogether with some new faces," Williamson told reporters, "We want to balance with the number of all-rounders which will affect the positions. Munro is expected in the top three."

India won the five-match ODI series, 4-1 and are considered firm favourites to win the T20Is as well. But Williamson is confident that his team will be able to their fortunes around despite this immediate shift.

“It is always a challenge whether that is from Test to one-day or T20 or whichever sort of equation. It requires adjustments and mindset whether you have more or less time because it is T20I cricket," Blackcaps skipper added.

"As an individual whether it is bowling or batting you need to drown in the depth nice and quick. It is nice to have the experience on the pitch. Ladies will play first so we will try to project in the middle. We are playing after them so it should be a great evening of cricket here."

New Zealand T20I squad(Updated): Kane Williamson (c), Ross Taylor, Doug Bracewell, Colin de Grandhomme, Lockie Ferguson, Scott Kuggeleijn, Daryl Mitchell, Colin Munro, Mitchell Santner, Tim Seifert, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Jimmy Neesham, Blair Tickner.
