Ex-India captain MS Dhoni is returning to the T20I side after being dropped for last two series against West Indies and Australia. He was named in the squad for the three-match T20I series against New Zealand.

Sunil Gavaskar feels despite being in the squad, Dhoni might not get a game. Gavaskar named a long batting line-up for India till the number 7 position. The batting unit included two youngsters, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill who are part of India's future.

Dhoni's batting approach in the shortest format of the game was questioned. Critics feel Pant has a better way of playing the T20 format than the 37-year-old Dhoni.

Here is Gavaskar's batting line-up for the T20I series against New Zealand: Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Dinesh Karthik, Hardik Pandya, and Krunal Pandya.

Mike Hesson, the former New Zealand coach also feels Dhoni doesn't need to be added in the playing XI as his place is already sealed in the World Cup. He wants to test Pant and Dinesh Karthik.

"T20I series gives a huge opportunity for Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik to solve those World Cup decisions. We know MS Dhoni is going to be part of World Cup," he said.

Dhoni got only two innings to bat in the ODI series against Kiwis. He has played six matches this year and has got three 50s and a 48*.
