Rohit Sharma, who'll be embracing leadership duties once again in the shortest format for India, has the chance to go one up over regular skipper Virat Kohli during the three-match T20I series versus New Zealand.

Highly successful Mumbai Indians captain has led the Indian team in 12 T20Is till now. He has won 11 of them with that sole defeat under him coming in the Nidahas Trophy last year. On the other hand, Virat has seen seven losses from his 20 T20I games as captain of the country, winning 12.

Hence if India can win two games against the Blackcaps this week, Rohit will become the second most successful captain for India in T20Is, behind only the great Mahendra Singh Dhoni, under whom the country won 41 of its 72 matches in the shortest format.

Rohit, who hailed India's second bilateral ODI series on Kiwi shores as a "massive achievement", would definitely want to continue this winning run for his team in the T20I battle that begins in Wellington on February 6.

"Coming here in New Zealand and beating them 4-1 is a massive achievement for us. The teams have come here in the past and have struggled to beat them on their home ground," 31-year-old was quoted saying during the post-match press conference after the fifth ODI.

"They play good cricket, particularly at home. Winning the series is a great take away for us as the last time we came here we were thrashed four-nil."
