Indian team has found relative success in ODIs for the past year or so, losing only to England in the ODI series while defeating South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand quite convincingly. Even if they have lost a match here and there, they have gone down fighting.
However, in the fourth ODI against New Zealand in Hamilton, we found a totally different version of Team India, who were demolished for just 92 runs in 30 odd overs and were then defeated by the Kiwis in 14.4 overs by 8 wickets and 212 balls in hand.
Trent Boult starred with 5/21, his fifth five-wicket haul in ODIs and along with Colin de Grandhomme’s three wickets never gave Indian team a chance under swinging conditions. Rohit Sharma was captaining the team in his 200th ODI, but he would rather forget this match, as the top scorer for India was Yuzvendra Chahal with 18 runs.
In return, Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked two wickets, but the Kiwis won the match easily as Nicholls and Taylor made unbeaten 30s.
The Cricket Fraternity was shocked at India’s defeat in such a manner and reacted strongly on Twitter.
