Shubman Gill may make his ODI debut for India in the 4th ODI.

19-year-old Shubman Gill hasn't even played his first international game for India and he is already creating a lot of buzzes. There is a possibility Gill may play for the Indian team in the fourth ODI against New Zealand after the departure of Virat Kohli left a place vacant in the playing XI.

India has also secured the series already so there is a space for an experiment in the side.

Former India cricketer Sourav Ganguly has faith in Gill. He thinks the Kolkata Knight Riders batsman can make it big if given an opportunity.

"I think they should play Shubman Gill. He certainly deserves a chance in the team. He should play the rest of the series. Who knows, India might get another good player for the World Cup," said Sourav.

Gill was in talks after Indian captain Kohli said the Punjab cricketer is way better than what he was at his age. Lauding him, Kohli said he "wasn't even ten percent as good a batsman as Gill is at 19" in the post-match presentation after third ODI.

Ganguly feels Kohli's words shows how good Shubman is. "Virat Kohli has also said that he didn't bat like Gill when he was his age, which is a great thing to say for a captain," he said. "Shubman again is a very exciting talent," Kohli had said earlier after the series win in Mount Maunganui.

"I saw him bat in the nets and I was like wow I was not even ten percent of that when I was 19.

"That's the confidence that they carry and it is great for Indian cricket if the standard keeps going up and the guys coming in can make impact performances straight away and we would be more than happy to give them the chances and help then grow."
