The second ODI between New Zealand and India at Mount Maunganui of the five-match series was another one-sided affair as India routed New Zealand by

Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to bat first as a change. Rohit Sharma’s 87 and Shikhar Dhawan’s 66 and their 154-run first wicket partnership laid a solid platform for a big India total. However, the Kiwis fielded well and picked wickets just at the right time.

Kohli made 43, Rayudu made 47 and it was not until Dhoni (48*) and Jadhav (22* in 10 balls) came together that India innings found that fifth gear. The duo added 53 runs in the last 5 overs to take India to 324/4 in 50 overs.

Dhoni and Jadhav helped India post 324 on board with late charge | GettyTrent Boult and Lockie Ferguson picked two wickets apiece, while no other Kiwi bowler managed to pick a wicket.

The Kiwi chase never got into any sort of rhythm as Guptill was the first one to go for 15 runs, caught by Chahal off Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Shami took care of Kane Williamson for 20, while Chahal and Jadhav removed Munro (31) and Taylor (22) respectively.

Doug Bracewell hit his maiden ODI fifty | GettyLatham (34) and Nicholls (28) were looking good, but Kuldeep removed both, along with Ish Sodhi and Grandhomme. Doug Bracewell played a good knock of 57, but New Zealand was always behind the 8-ball in the chase.

Finally, Chahal dismissed Ferguson to end the Kiwi innings and India won the match by 90 runs. Kuldeep Yadav picked 4/45, while Chahal (2/52) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/42) were the other major wicket-takers.
