India fast bowler Mohammad Shami has had some brilliant performances for Team India since the start of 2018. First, he impressed everyone on the tours to South Africa, England, and Australia and then has come through with a Man of the Match performance in the first ODI against New Zealand.
Shami, who has been a part of the Test team, returned to Team Blue, after a brief stint in ODIs against Australia at home; bagged 3/19 in Team India’s 8 wickets win over New Zealand in the first ODI of the five-match series at Napier.
Shami removed both the openers, Martin Guptill and Colin Munro for single scores of 5 and 8 respectively and then removed Mitchell Santner for 14 in his spell of six overs.
When he picked the wicket of Martin Guptill, Shami completed 100 wickets in ODI in his 56th match and became the quickest Indian bowler to reach the mark, breaking the record previously held by Irfan Pathan, who achieved the 100 ODI wickets mark in his 59th ODI.
Shami was named Man of the match for his performance and he took to Twitter to thanks everyone and dedicated his award and record to his daughter.
