MS Dhoni has started the year 2019 in a grand fashion, scoring three consecutive half-centuries to help India register its maiden bilateral ODI series victory Down Under.

Dhoni, who notched up the scores of 51 (Sydney), 55 not out (Adelaide) and 87 not out (Melbourne), was named Player-of-the-Series as the Men in Blue emerged triumphant in the 50-over format by a margin of 2-1.

After the success on Australia soil, Team India have now landed in New Zealand for five ODIs and three T20Is. And Dhoni is looking as determined as ever to make it count.

Ahead of the ODI series opener in Napier, the veteran wicketkeeper was seen sweating it out in the nets. He looked quite sharp while facing the Indian bowlers on a quiet sunny day.

Here’s the video:

In 2018, MS Dhoni averaged only 25 in the 50-over format from 19 matches and thus questions were raised whether the 37-year-old deserves to be in India’s World Cup scheme of things. However, a lot has changed in only three ODIs this year.

Considering his fantastic record in New Zealand, Dhoni is expected to perform this time around as well. He has aggregated 541 runs in 10 innings at an outstanding average of 90.16 including six half-centuries on the Kiwi shores.
