Former India cricketer VVS Laxman believes there is no need to make any changes in the Test format to make it interesting. He, however, feels there should be a benefit for the visiting team with the toss.

Earlier, India cricket great Sachin Tendulkar had suggested two different tracks for a Test match to make it more interesting. He said that the first and second innings can be played on the green track while the third and fourth innings on a turning track.

In an interview with Sportstar, Laxman said it's not needed since Test cricket has managed to produce quality matches lately.

"We have seen some high-quality Test cricket over the last few months, so, I do not think that the formats need to be tweaked. Since the home team anyways enjoys a home advantage, maybe, in the first Test of the series, the touring team captain can be asked to decide what he wants to do," he said.

Laxman, who has scored more away Test runs than at home, said he would like to see a change in the Toss and give some advantage to the touring team.

"Definitely for the first Test (on letting the touring side decide what they want to do). I have always enjoyed playing overseas. That always gave me and my colleagues a lot of satisfaction, but performing in the first Test was always challenging. You have to get used to the conditions.

"Home advantage comes in terms of the pitch the match is played on, so whichever team wins the toss, will definitely have the advantage. So giving away the home advantage will at least help the touring side and it will give them a fair chance to do well in the first Test. At least you are giving them the best chance to compete," he remarked.

Team India recently defeated Australia in their backyard to seal the series 2-1. They continued the outstanding form at home against England to win the series 3-1. Virat Kohli and co are now in ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against New Zealand.
