Former India opener Wasim Jaffer took a funny jibe at Pakistan captain Babar Azam after he dethroned India’s Virat Kohli as the new no.1 ODI ranked batsman in the latest update of the ICC ODI batting rankings on Wednesday.

Babar Azam, on basis of his century and score of 94 in the 3-match ODI series against South Africa, dislodged Virat Kohli as the new no.1 ODI ranked batsman after he reigned for 1258 days at the top. Azam became only the fourth Pakistani batsman to become no.1 ODI batsman after Zaheer Abbas (1983-84), Javed Miandad (1988-89), and Mohammad Yousuf (2003).

In Tests, Babar has attained the best of the fifth position and is currently ranked sixth while in T20Is he is third but has been number one in the past.

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer congratulated Babar Azam on his achievement but also took a funny jibe at him. Jaffer reminded the Pakistani captain that he shouldn’t get comfortable at the top of the rankings’ mountain because as everyone knows, Virat Kohli loves chasing.

“Congratulations @babarazam258, well deserved. But don't get too comfy at the top, you know how much Virat Kohli loves chasing ???? #ICCRankings,” Jaffer tweeted.

Virat Kohli is involved in the ongoing IPL 2021 where he is leading the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Babar Azam will now lead the Pakistan team on the tour of Zimbabwe.
