BAN v WI 2021: Shakib-Al-Hasan to miss the second Test against West Indies in Dhaka

Hasan suffered from a thigh strain and bowled just 6 overs in WI first innings.

Shakib Al Hasan | TwitterPremier Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the second Test against West Indies to be played in Dhaka from February 11 onwards. West Indies won the first Test in Chattogram to go 1-0 up in the two-match series.

Shakib, who returned to international cricket after his one-year ban, suffered from a thigh strain and managed to bowl only 6 overs in West Indies first innings. He had made 68 with the bat in Bangladesh’s first innings and didn’t come out to bat in the second.

Shakib has been assessed and monitored continuously since suffering a strain on his left thigh on the second day of the match in Chattogram. And after careful consideration, it has been confirmed that he will not be available for the second Test.

Bangladesh's white-ball tour to New Zealand delayed by a week due to COVID-19 related issues

Shakib will exit the team’s bio-bubble and for the time being will be under the surveillance and treatment of the BCB Medical Team in Dhaka as he continues to recover and consolidate his physical robustness.

West Indies chased down the 395-run target with 3 wickets in hand, thanks to 210* from debutant Kyle Mayers and his 216-run partnership with fellow debutant Nkrumah Bonner, who made 86.
