Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli has a massive fan following across the globe and even the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that suspended cricketing activities since mid-March could not dent the growth of the dashing cricketer’s popularity on the different social media platforms.

Well, despite being out of action for the past four months, Kohli has yet again achieved another milestone on the social media amid the COVID-19 lockdown, as the right-hander became the first Indian to breach the 70 million followers-mark on Instagram, as well as, first cricketer to reach the mark.

With 70.1 million followers on Instagram, Kohli, who is already the most followed celebrity on social media in India, has now toppled basketball legend LeBron James (69 million) to become the fourth most followed sportsperson globally on the popular photo and video sharing application.

Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo leads the list at a whopping 232 million followers followed by Argentina's Lionel Messi (161 million) and Brazilian football Neymar Jr. (140 million).

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old had recently crossed the 1000-post mark on Instagram wherein his massive number of followers has been making huge money for Kohli, as he is one of the highest-paid celebs when it comes to promotions on Instagram.

According to a list released by 'Attain' last month, Kohli earned 379,294 pounds (approx Rs. 3.6 crores) from his sponsored posts on the platform between March and May.

On the other hand, one of Kohli’s die-hard fans has counted that the star batsman earns 267 followers per hour, 6,410 per day, and an astonishing 1,92,307 per month on an average since March 2018.
