MS Dhoni is one of the few cricketers who have come up from ground zero and have gone through many struggles to reach where they are today. It was possible because of a few people and friends guiding him through the right path.
Hence the former India captain is also doing the same and giving it back to the game by opening up cricket academies to find and nurture young talent. He already had opened an academy in Dubai sometime back and now is foraying into online coaching.
The MS Dhoni Cricket Academy will start coaching online for all groups of players – from beginners in the 6-8 years age group to advanced senior players. It will be unveiled by the cricketer himself on July 2.

The academy will be run under the aegis of Aarka Sports Pvt Ltd and a partner said “We have done coaching for coaches and over 200 coaches have benefited already and from July 2, we are starting coaching for players. Our assistance will supplement what they do on the field. Mahi is the overall head and a panel of coaches will impart lessons.”
The academy has also seen the inclusion of former South Africa batsman Daryll Cullinan in a coaching capacity. The former Proteas appeared in 70 Tests and 138 ODIs and the partner lauded his experience of playing cricket all over the world.
Satrajit Lahiri, Mandar Dalvi, Prasanth Chandran, Chinmoy Roy, Dr. Ratnesh Singh, and Dr. Kevin Agrawal are the other members of the coaching staff.
For beginners, the curriculum includes fun activities, developing fundamental movements, fundamental cricket skills like hitting the ball, catching, throwing, etc.
Meanwhile, Dhoni also plans to revive his academy in Dubai which ran into lease issues. Currently, it is closed because of lockdown and other issues. "We will soon revive that as well,” said his friend.
Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has spent the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown with family in his Ranchi farmhouse. He has not played any cricket since the 2019 World Cup and was seen hitting it out of the park during the CSK training camp in Chennai before the lockdown brought an end to it.
