"You were my home my mother I had no home but you. I can’t believe you are no more with me you will (be) missed forever. Rest In Peace," wrote Rashid.

Few days back, Rashid had urged fans to pray for his mother's health.

"Ya Allah ! Give my mother a good health. Please remember her in your prayers", he had tweeted.

The sad news comes roughly eighteen months after his father passed away. Rashid had played cricket only a day after for Adelaide Strikers against Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League (BBL) that season despite dealing with trauma.

Widely regarded for his bowling, especially in T20s, Rashid is the first global star cricketer to emerge from Afghanistan.

The 21-year-old has played 4 Tests, 71 ODIs and 48 T20Is in his career so far, taking close to 250 international wickets for his country.

He is also a regular feature in marquee T20 leagues across the globe, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he turns up for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
