Nasser Hussain feels England's stance against Alex Hales "little harsh"

Hales remains out of the England set-up on disciplinary grounds.

Alex Hales | AFP In missing out on a home World Cup and being sidelined ever since, former skipper-turned-commentator, Nasser Hussain, reckons Alex Hales has faced enough for what he did and the right-hand batsman should now be allowed his way back into the England side.

Hales, the team's longstanding white-ball opener, was dropped early last summer on disciplinary grounds, with captain Eoin Morgan reiterating time and again how the swashbuckling batsman lost the trust of his teammates because of his actions.

Hussain, however, thinks Morgan is dragging this a bit too far.

"He did the crime but he has served the time and missed out on a World Cup win and one of the great days at Lord’s. Is that not enough of a price to pay?" Hussain said on the Sky Cricket Show.

"I feel Eoin Morgan is pushing this a fraction. It can’t be one rule for one and another for Alex Hales. I don’t know how he wins back trust from the team without being allowed back in the team. How can he get back if they don’t give him another chance? They are being a little harsh now."

Time being the greatest healer, it is hoped that Hales will be given the opportunity to once again represent England in the near future.

"I’ve spoken to Alex and see an avenue for him to come back but when there’s a breakdown of trust the only healer is time," stressed Morgan himself.

"It’s only been 12 or 13 months since the incident which could have cost us four years hard work so I think we will continue to assess things moving forward."
