PCB converts Karachi High-Performance Centre into temporary sanctuary for paramedic staff

There is no cricket matches in Pakistan as well due to COVID-19 outbreak.

Pakistan is in line to become Asia’s Coronavirus epicenter with the number of the COVID-19 cases in the country soaring to more than 850 in the past few days, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) came out to support the country’s healthcare system in this critical time.

Pakistan has recorded 875 COVID-19 positive cases in which 13 people recovered while 6 peoples lost their lives because of the fast-spreading disease. There is a serious Coronavirus threat in Pakistan with the government not ready for the lockdown that would certainly provoke the deadly virus to spread more quickly in the South Asian country to make the condition even worse.

In this challenging time, PCB came forward for help, as the board has temporarily converted its Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre into a living area for paramedic staff who is currently on duty for the nation and coronavirus patients at the makeshift hospital at Expo Centre in Karachi.

As per reports in ANI, PCB Chief Operating Officer Salman Naseer said in a statement: “All the paramedic staff is our heroes as in these challenging and difficult times. They are risking their lives to save the lives and wellbeing of many affected by COVID-19.”

He further added, “As a small token of our appreciation and acknowledgment to these unsung heroes and as part of our duty of care, the PCB is pleased to offer its state-of-the-art Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre as temporary lodging and boarding for the paramedic staff working at Expo Centre hospital so that they can serve those suffering from COVID-19 more effectively and efficiently.”

Meanwhile, PCB’s spokesperson told ARY Sports: “Sindh Government requested us to allow them to use the high-performance center to manage a living facility for doctors and supporting staff who are working at Expo Centre in different shifts. We have assured them to accommodate all the people in the best possible way so that they don’t face any hindrance while serving COVID-19 patients.”

Noteworthy, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic is affecting 195 countries and territories around the world with claiming over 16000 lives besides effecting 381,653 peoples internationally till now.
