BCB announces Asia XI and World XI squads for marquee T20I series in March

The two T20Is will be played to celebrate the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman – Bangladesh's founding father.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday (February 25) announced the squads of Asia XI and World XI for the marquee T20I series

The two T20Is, slated to take place in Dhaka next month, will be played to celebrate the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman – Bangladesh's founding father.

The 15-member Asia XI squad features six Indians in it, including Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav. Kohli and Rahul will be available for one game only while the former’s selection is still subject to confirmation.

Apart from the Indians, the squad has four Bangladeshis, two Sri Lankans, two Afghanistan and one Nepal cricket in it.

As far as the World XI squad is concerned – it is full of super stars as well, including Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Ross Taylor, Faf du Plessis, Alex Hales, Jonny Bairstow among others.

Former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody has been named the coach of 12-member World XI squad.

The marquee T20I series will be held in the window of March 18-22.

Asia XI Squad:

KL Rahul*, Shikhar Dhawan, Tamim Iqbal, Virat Kohli*, Liton Das, Rishabh Pant, Mushfiqur Rahum, Thisara Perera, Rashid Khan, Mustafizur Rahman, Sandeep Lamichhane, Lasith Malinga, Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

World XI Squad:

Alex Hales, Chris Gayle, Faf du Plessis (c), Nicholas Pooran, Brendan Taylor, Jonny Bairstow, Kieron Pollard, Adil Rashid, Sheldon Cottrell, Lungi Ngidi, Andrew Tye, Mitchell McClenaghan.
