SA v AUS 2020: Du Plessis and Rabada to return to South Africa T20I squad against Australia

The first match will be played on February 21.

After England, the Australia team is e scheduled to tour South Africa for a three-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series. The T20Is will be beginning on Friday (21 February) at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

Former skipper Faf du Plessis and pacer Kagiso Rabada are all set to be back in the T20 side that will be taking on Australia. Du Plessis recently announced that he is stepping down as Proteas skipper from Tests and T20Is.

The T20 series may not have been won but it was really pleasing to see our batting unit play so well,” said Zondi who believes du Plessis’ addition will provide an extra dimension to their batting.

The right-hander, along with Rabada, was rested in the T20 series against England due to the Test series against the same opposition which ended last month.

Temba Bavuma’s selection depends on the scan of his right hamstring which he injured during the final T20I against England on Sunday.

South African squad:

Quinton de Kock (C, WK), Temba Bavuma, Faf du Plessis, Bjorn Fortuin, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Jon-Jon Smuts, Dale Steyn, Pite van Biljon, Rassie van der Dussen.
