Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane on Wednesday (February 12) recorded best figures by a Nepal bowler in 50-over cricket during ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 match against USA in Kirtipur.

Lamichhane returned with the bowling figures of 6/16 from his six overs as Nepal bundled out USA for just 35 – the joint-lowest score in the history of ODI cricket. Earlier, Zimbabwe held the record as they were bowled out for 35 runs against Sri Lanka at Harare in 2004.

Besides Lamichhane, Sushan Bhari picked up four wickets and conceded just five runs in his three overs. The USA were able to bat only 12 overs and opener Xavier Marshall (16 off 22 balls) was the only one to touch the double-digit mark in the batting line-up.

In reply, Nepal overhauled the target in 5.2 overs with eight wickets in hand. USA’s Nosthush Kenjige struck twice in his first over but the experienced Paras Khadka (20*) and Dipendra Singh Airee (15) took Nepal over the line.

Brief Scores:

USA – 35/10 in 12 overs (Xavier Marshall 16; Sandeep Lamichhane 6/16) lost to Nepal – 36/2 in 5.2 overs (Paras Khadka 20*; Nosthush Kenjige 2/15) by 8 wickets.
