Lalit Yadav wants to follow the footsteps of his Delhi Capitals (DC) teammates Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw.

Lalit Yadav is a 23-year-old cricketer from Delhi who is looking forward to his first IPL with the Delhi Capitals. He too is a big hitter like Virender Sehwag, who he shares his hometown with. The youngster from Najafgarh wants to play for the Indian team like his teammates Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw.

Yadav said, “This tournament is a huge platform for upcoming cricketers. Delhi Capitals, in particular, is the best team for young Indian cricketers. I see this as an important stepping stone to eventually playing for India one day, like Shreyas, Rishabh and Prithvi.

I am looking forward to being challenged at this level and see where I really stand among the best in the world. DC has a great mix off domestic and international players, and also the best coaching set up a youngster could have asked for. I am keen to learn as much as possible from this experience,” he said.

Lalit Yadav was playing for Delhi in a Ranji Trophy game on December 19, when he got the news of his selection at DC for INR 20 lakhs. He received a lot of calls that day but did not want to lose focus as he was not out overnight and wanted to continue batting well on the next day.

We were playing in Andhra Pradesh when I found out that I was picked by DC. My phone didn't stop ringing, but I spoke with my family only as I had to resume batting the next morning and didn't want to lose focus,” he said.
