Mumbai Indians congratulate Zaheer Khan after being conferred with Padma Shri award

Zaheer is only the second India fast bowler to be honored with Padma Shri.

Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan will be awarded Padma Shri, along with India women's hockey unit skipper Rani Rampal and shooter Jitu Rai.

Zaheer is second ever India pace bowler to be named for the honor after India's great Kapil Dev.

The 41-year-old, who has played for Mumbai Indians and was part of the IPL winning side multiple times, got congratulated by the franchise.

"2011 World Cup winner and our Director of Cricket Operations, Zaheer Khan, has been conferred with the Padma Shri -- one of the highest civilian awards in the country," Mumbai Indians official Twitter account tweeted.

Zaheer has played 92 Tests, 200 ODIs, and 17 T20Is for India. He picked up 311 wickets in the longest format. The left-arm pacer played a vital role in India's World Cup 2011 victory. Khan also has 282 wickets in ODIs and 17 scalps in T20Is.
