Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar has made a controversial comment against the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after Bangladesh finally agreed to play a Test series under the ICC World Test Championship on Pakistani soil on Wednesday (January 15).

Previously, the BCB was reluctant to play the Test series in Pakistan citing the tensions in Middle-East, but on Wednesday Bangladesh and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have finally come to a conclusion, as they agreed for the full-fledged series split into three legs.

Following the latest development, Akhtar believes that BCB agreed to play two-match Test series in Pakistan because of its own benefits, claiming the PCB might have given away the rights to host the Asia Cup to Bangladesh in return to playing a full-fledged series in Pakistan.

Akthar said on his YouTube channel, “There are speculations that Bangladesh has been successful in getting what they want and also bartered the hosting rights for the Asia Cup in return to touring Pakistan. The Asia cup now might be played in Bangladesh instead of Pakistan.”

Praising PCB, Ehsan Mani and Wasim Khan for their efforts to bring back international cricket to Pakistan, he said:  “We must give credit to PCB, Ehsan Mani and Wasim Khan for their sheer hard work that international cricket has returned to Pakistan. I would also say people not speak against Bangladesh as they are doing this because of unseen pressures that cannot be publicly spoken.”

Akhtar signed off by saying, “Pakistan is the safest country statistically in the world, Sri Lanka, who was attacked came to Pakistan and they portrayed that there is no danger. Split series makes a little sense but the message to the world might have a negative message.”
