Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo on Wednesday (January 15) urged the Tigers to learn from Team India's development of its astonishing success in Test cricket, as he sets away series win as a goal for 2020 in the longest format of the game.

Since making debut as a Test-playing nation in 2000, Bangladesh has managed only 13 wins in their 117 Test matches with only four of them coming overseas and Domingo wants the Tigers to follow India's footsteps in the five-day format.

Domingo, who took the reins of the Tigers set-up at a difficult time after the 2019 World Cup, was highly impressed the way India dominating the Test cricket after years of stagnation in the format.

He told ESPNCricinfo, “Looking at how India play their cricket and developed their game over the last three or four years, it is something that we can aspire to do. The wickets they have prepared in domestic cricket, the group of fast bowlers that they have developed, the continuity in selection. We can take big learnings from playing against India in the Test series.”

Meanwhile, Bangladesh is scheduled to play their next Test series in Pakistan in February and the South African is targeting success on the overseas tours.

Domingo signed off by saying, “There are big lessons in how far behind we are in Tests. Our record hasn’t been great for a long period of time. A big challenge will be to win a Test match away from Bangladesh, which is a big priority for us this year.”
