Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan on Wednesday (January 15) revealed that the team will play a one-off One Day International (ODI) between Bangladesh’s scheduled tour of Pakistan in order to help the Pakistan Cricket Board (BCB) to ease their financial burden.

The PCB is set to host Bangladesh over three legs, as the upcoming tour comprising three T20Is, 2 Tests and one ODI has been split with the T20Is scheduled to be held between January 24 to 27, while the first Test will be starting on February 7.

Following the first Test, Bangladesh will return home and then arrive Pakistan to play the one-off ODI on April 3 before the second Test and final Test on April 5.

The latest schedule has hugely increased the cost for the tour, therefore, the BCB decided to play one ODI to help the PCB to generate some revenue, as well as, to have some practice before the second Test against Pakistan.

Nazmul told reporters, “Pakistan is facing a huge financial loss [for hosting us on three occasions] and the offered us to play one T20 [ahead of Test] as that will give them some revenue. Their cost has increased a lot as we are going three times and in this little time they cannot do marketing.”

He signed off by saying, “We needed practice match and we felt that if we played ODI than we can practice more [and they could also generate some revenue].”
