WI v IRE 2020: Dwayne Bravo set for international return with Ireland T20Is

Bravo last played for West Indies in September 2016 versus Pakistan.

Dwayne Bravo | GettyHaving announced a retirement u-turn late last year, all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was on Monday (January 13) picked for West Indies' three-match T20I series versus Ireland, starting January 15 in Grenada.

Bravo, the two-time T20 World Cup winner and still a famous name among various league franchises in the world, last turned up for West Indies in September 2016 versus Pakistan.

"Dwayne Bravo was recalled with the specific intention of bolstering our ‘death’ bowling which was identified as an area that really needs improving. His record in this department speaks for itself. He will also be able to act as a mentor to the other ‘death’ bowlers and lend his experience wherever needed,” selector Roger Harper said in a media release.

Overall, in 66 T20Is, the 36-year-old has scored 1,142 runs and taken 52 wickets.

Besides Bravo, selectors also recalled 26-year-old all-rounder Rovman Powell, who has played 34 ODIs and 23 T20Is so far post his debut in November 2016. "Rovman Powell is a genuine all-rounder who we believe can add impetus and up the strike rate at the back-end of the innings," said Harper.

Jason Holder will continue resting with the selectors and the management rightfully concerned over his workload.

Fabian Allen and Keemo Paul weren’t considered because of injury.

The second and third T20Is will be played in St Kitts on January 18 & 19, respectively.

West Indies T20I Squad: Kieron Pollard (captain), Dwayne Bravo, Sheldon Cottrell, Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Khary Pierre, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Lendl Simmons, Hayden Walsh, Kesrick Williams
