BCB only gets "short tour" government clearance to Pakistan

Bangladesh has cited security concerns for discomfort in touring Pakistan for Test matches.

There is no hugely positive development regarding the Pakistan-Bangladesh series as the BCB chief Nazmul Hassan confirmed that they've been given government clearance but only for a "short tour" to Pakistan because of the ongoing Iran-US issue.

This, basically means the board can do as it originally wanted to: test the ground reality first with a week-long T20I visit before deciding whether to go ahead with the Test matches in future, which is absolutely against the PCB's wishes especially after hosting Sri Lanka successfully.

"We are clear cut, but let's see how they react," Hassan said. "As far as security is concerned, T20 is a better option. They should be happy that we still want to go to play T20s. We just wanted rescheduling [of the Tests], not saying we won't tour. This is the best thing we can offer to Pakistan."

The BCB and Bangladesh players always had security concerns regarding this trip but those seems to have only heightened since the tension has risen in the middle-east in recent weeks.

However, any proposal that sees Pakistan not hosting the two scheduled World Test Championship fixtures, says a report in ESPNcricinfo, is not at all acceptable to the PCB.

And the conversation between BCB and the Bangladeshi government hasn't yet been officially communicated with the PCB.

Three T20Is were proposed to be played in Lahore on January 23, 25 and 27, respectively, before the two Tests in Rawalpindi and Karachi.

But the BCB isn't acceptant of that and basically wants to come only for T20Is and play the Test matches at a neutral venue.
