"Filling MS Dhoni's shoes as finisher is not possible," says Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya hasn't played for India lately because of injury.

India's all-rounder Hardik Pandya is always seen with hopes to perform in both aspects, batting, and fielding. Going into the T20 World Cup 2020, he is going to be a big player for India, considering the impact he makes especially in the shorter format.

Pandya is asked to deliver in the middle overs with the ball, and in batting, it's his ability to give good finish in the death overs which will be counted.

Speaking to India Today Consulting Editor, Sports, Boria Majumdar, Pandya talked about replacing MS Dhoni for the finisher's role. He answered that it's challenging to come close to Dhoni as a finisher.

"I'll never be able to fill MS' shoes, so I don't even think that way. I'm quite excited about the challenge, to be honest. Whatever I do, it will be always for the team you know. It will be one step at the ladder and slowly-slowly that Cup will be there!" Pandya said.

Hardik's start in the year 2019 was horrible. He had received criticism for his sexist remarks on the show "Koffee with Karan". Pandya was asked about the incident by Majumdar. He and KL Rahul, who accompanied him, had even faced show-cause notices by the BCCI.

"We as cricketers did not know what was going to happen. The ball was not in my court, it was in some else’s court where they had to take the shot and that’s a very vulnerable place you don’t want to be," Pandya said about that incident.
