Prithvi Shaw ruled out of India A's two practice matches in New Zealand

Shaw injured his shoulder while playing for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.

Opening batsman Prithvi Shaw on Tuesday (January 7) was ruled out India A's two practice matches in New Zealand. A call on his participation in the one-day and four-day matches will be taken later, said the BCCI in a statement.

"Team India batsman Prithvi Shaw suffered from rotator cuff and labrum injury to his left shoulder while fielding on Day 1 (January 3, 2020) of the Paytm Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Karnataka. 

Prithvi is currently under rehab at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and has been ruled out of India A’s two upcoming practice games in New Zealand. A call on his participation in the one-day and four-day matches will be taken at a later stage." the statement read.

Shaw injured his shoulder while making an attempt to stop an overthrow during Mumbai's Ranji Trophy clash. He could not come out to bat in the second innings due to pain in his shoulder and was rushed to NCA for an assessment of the injury.

Shaw was named in both the one-day and four-day squads.
