Karnataka registered another victory against Tamil Nadu ensuring an all-format dominance in this year’s domestic tournaments. This tie also was a thriller with K Gowtham taking the final wicket in the last over of the day.

Tamil Nadu will have to wait a long time now to find another opportunity to beat Karnataka as they once again flinched in the final moments of the game. Karnataka scored 336 in their first innings, which is not a great total. Tamil Nadu could manage only 307 giving their neighbours a 29-run lead. The game once again shifted in Tamil Nadu’s favour on Day 4 when they needed just 97 runs in 31 overs with 6 wickets in hand.

However, Dinesh Karthik (17) and captain Vijay Shankar (5) fell early to once again shift the momentum of the game. Murugan Ashwin (23* off 77 balls) and Manimaran Siddharth (20 off 40 balls) kept the bowlers at bay for almost enough time. The game was extended by two overs at the scheduled close of play at 5:00 pm as a result was in sight.

It was Krishnappa Gowtham, who once again rose to the occasion and took the wicket of Krishnamoorthy Vignesh with just 3 balls remaining in the match.

Gowtham had already taken 6 wickets in the first innings and then added 8 more to his tally in the second innings. He had also scored a half-century in the first innings and 22 runs in the second. He has been a very valuable player for Karnataka this season.
