Ricky Ponting joins Twitter and shares first photos with his son

Former Australia captain and one of the greatest batsmen of his generation, Ricky Ponting has finally taken to the modern way of keeping in touch with his fans and joined the short messaging platform Twitter.

His first tweet consisted of photos with his son Fletcher in which he is seen giving him basic tips of batting during a net session. He tweeted, “A day of firsts; finally on social media and the first net with my son Fletcher.

Ponting who retired from cricket in 2012, is the most successful captain in Test cricket for Australia and their leading run-scorer in both the formats of the game. He has 13378 runs in 168 Test matches at an average of 51.85 with 41 centuries to his name and the best score of 257.

He made 13704 runs in 375 ODI matches at an average of 42.03 with 30 tons to his name and the highest score of 164. He also led Australia to World Cup wins in 2003 and 2007, while he was also the part of Steve Waugh’s World Cup-winning team in 2003.
