Can't thank MS Dhoni enough for his service to Indian cricket: BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly

Speculations have been rife over MS Dhoni's future since the end of the World Cup in UK.

MS Dhoni | GettyBCCI president Sourav Ganguly said he had a word with MS Dhoni regarding his future in Indian cricket, the details of which can't be revealed as of now. This doesn't help the speculations rife over the great man's retirement from international cricket since the end of the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand in UK when he last featured for India.

"I can't say this here. We have had discussions with MS Dhoni. We will leave it at that," Ganguly told India Today. "Somebody of that stature of MS Dhoni any respect. The BCCI can't be thankful enough for what he has done to Indian cricket."

Dhoni first went on a territorial army training camp with his regiment and then made himself unavailable for selection, missing the tour to West Indies and the home series versus South Africa and Bangladesh. He isn't part of the squad for the Calypso Kings' return series in India either.

"I have always said it's on MS Dhoni at the moment," Ganguly added. "It's on MS Dhoni. We will address that as and when it comes. Things should remain in closed doors, especially when it comes to dealing with legendary names."

"Yes (I have spoken to him since taking over as BCCI president). We are in touch. We speak to Virat Kohli as well. We speak to the selectors. That's where it lies at the moment."

The 38-year-old has been a legendary wicketkeeper-batsman and an inspirational leader for the country, helping it win three major ICC trophies and become the No.1 ranked Test side in the world.
