Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Chattogram Challengers, on Monday (December 2), confirmed the availability of Chris Gayle in the upcoming 2019-20 season of the BPL which is scheduled to start on December 11 in Bangladesh.

The Bangabandhu BPL side Challengers has announced that the West Indian hard hitter will be available only for the final leg of the T20 tournament, as the left-handed opening batsman is currently recovering from a hamstring injury.

Last month, there have been speculations regarding the availability of Gayle for the tournament after Gayle had said he would not be available for BPL 2019-20, taking rest in the coming months during a press conference in the South African T20 Mzansi Super League.

But the matter was something else as he was not reportedly pleased with the remuneration offered to him by the Challengers, who picked him in the draft for USD 100000 on November 17, though, now, there is no uncertainty about his participation in the tournament.

The Chattogram Challengers Managing Director KM Rifatuzzaman said in a media release Monday: “We are happy to announce that Gayle will play for us and there is no uncertainty about his participation in the tournament.”

He added, “He is having a hamstring problem, so we will not get him from the beginning, but we are hopeful to have him at some point in the tournament. We have finalized everything with Gayle's agent. Some formalities are not done yet, but all those things will be completed soon.”

Noteworthy, Gayle, who featured in all editions of the BPL, is likely to play in the tournament after 4 January and may play three league phase games in the tournament.
