New Zealand had won the first Test by an innings and 65 runs.

Williamson and Taylor helped the Kiwis secure a draw in Hamilton | GettyNew Zealand secured a draw from the rain-hit second Test in Hamilton against England with centuries on the final day from skipper Kane Williamson and veteran Ross Taylor and won the two-match series 1-0.

Bad weather played spoilsport after lunch with the Kiwis 241/2 from 75 overs, having gained a lead of 140 runs and still eight wickets left in the shed. Williamson remained unbeaten on 104 while Taylor was not out 105. These were their 21st and 19th centuries in Test cricket respectively.

No further play was possible and the game was called off to pave way for the home team's yet another series win. New Zealand had won the first Test in Mount Maunganui by an innings and 65 runs.

England bowlers toiled hard but didn't get the breakthroughs their team needed.

Earlier in the game, Tom Latham (105) scored a hundred while BJ Watling (55) and Daryl Mitchell (73) made half-centuries as New Zealand posted a total of 375 in the first innings, which was overhauled by England with skipper Joe Root piling on an epic double century (226), Rory Burns (101) making a ton and Ollie Pope (75) contributing a fifty.

Stuart Broad picked up 4/73 and Neil Wagner scalped 5/124 in the first innings for their sides.

Root was awarded the "Player-of-the-Match" while Wagner went one better and earned the "Player-of-the-Series" with 13 wickets despite the surfaces being flat.

The series didn't count towards the inaugural World Test Championship.
