While the Indian team made headlines for winning seven Test matches on a trot, with the latest victory coming against Bangladesh in the historic first-ever day-night Test between the two sides at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata; the pundits in the commentary box made news for altogether different reasons.
Virat Kohli made his 27th Test ton and the first one from India in the pink ball Test, while Ishant Sharma (9 wickets) and Umesh Yadav (8 wickets) scripted a world record consecutive fourth win in a Test via innings margin for Team India, which happened for the first time in Test history.
But in the commentary box, a heated exchange between Harsha Bhogle and Sanjay Manjrekar took center stage, after Manjrekar arrogantly countered Bhogle’s views that players should be asked about the visibility issue with the pink ball. The former India and Mumbai batsman said players who have played the game know about their surroundings on the pitch.
This led to fans calling BCCI President on Twitter to remove Sanjay Manjrekar from commentary duties. However, one fan also added Murali Kartik’s name in the mix as well and asked Ganguly to remove both Manjrekar and Kartik from doing commentary.
To this, the former India spinner, who has played 8 Tests and 37 One Day Internationals for the country, came back with a sporting reply, and said, "Good one????????"
