He proved his mettle in the international scene after his debut in 2016 and made a big impact in 2018 when he made his Test debut as well.

He has picked up Test five-wicket hauls in South Africa, England, Australia, and West Indies, while also picking up a hat-trick against the Jason Holder-led team in the Kingston, Jamaica Test match, making him the 3rd Indian to achieve this feat in the format after Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan.

However, he was diagnosed with stress fractures to his lower back and was pulled out of the home series against South Africa and Bangladesh and will now miss the West Indies' limited-overs encounters as well. Though selection panel head MSK Prasad has hoped that he will be fit for the upcoming New Zealand tour.

He (Bumrah) is gradually getting back to full fitness, though we need to hear from the people working on his recovery. His return cannot be before next month as we are still waiting for a report on him. But of course, he is expected to be back for the New Zealand series,” Prasad said as per Telegraph India.

Meanwhile, Bumrah has been getting fitter and fitter by the day and has been sharing updates with his fans. He had once shared a video of him running at full speed at the Wankhede Stadium and now has shared a more encouraging photo which might make his fans ecstatic. India is scheduled to play 5 T20Is, 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches on the tour to New Zealand, which starts from January 24, 2020, with T20I matches.
