Shahadat Hossain banned by BCB for five years and fined 3 lakh Taka

Hossain was involved in physical altercation with teammate Arafat Sunny during a NCL match.

Shahadat Hossain was jailed for assaulting his minor house help in 2015 | GettyBangladesh pacer Shahadat Hossain has received his sentence from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for assaulting his teammate Arafat Sunny during the second day's play between Dhaka Division and Khulna Division at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on November 18.

Now the BCB has banned Hossain for five years with two years of that suspended. He has also been fined 3 lakh Taka. Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu announced on Tuesday afternoon about the ban.

It has been reported that all this began when Arafat Sunny admitted that he didn’t know how to shine the ball properly. This enraged Shahadat, who then slapped the 24-year old Sunny and the other players had to get involved and stop the fast bowler during the clash on the field. The fast bowler was withdrawn immediately from NCL after the clash and he was sent back home with the match referee reporting the matter to the NCL technical committee.

This is another big blow for the right-handed pacer, who has spent time behind bars in 2015. He was accused of assaulting his domestic help and has also been involved in a fight with an auto-rickshaw driver. It might be the end of the cricketing career for the 33-year old fast bowler as the five-year ban means he will be to make a comeback to the field when he turns 38.
