Worlds No.1 T20I batsman Babar Azam did not have a great start as Pakistan captain in the shortest format of the game, as the Men in Green lost the three-match T20I series to the hosts Australia 0-2 with the first match washed out recently.

Before the Australia tour, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sacked Sarfaraz Ahmed and named Azam and Azhar Ali as the national captains of the T20 and Test cricket respectively in a search to get some success to change the fortune of the Pakistan cricket.

However, till the date, there is no change in the results even under new skipper Azam, while Ali’s leadership will be tested next week, Sarfaraz came out in support of country’s batting star, urging people to have faith in the young blood and support him as much as.

Sarfaraz said in an interview, “Babar is new to the job and my message for all is that we need to support him as much as possible. He is a young captain & he has a young team with him and it's not easy for a young captain to go to a tough place and fight against a strong team.”

Meanwhile, the wicket-keeper batsman who was dropped from the national squad for Australia tour has also broken his silence on his sacking as national captain for the first time.

He revealed the PCB official Wasim Khan drove from Lahore to come to his home to inform the PCB's decision that they are going to remove him as the captain, adding “thanked him and said it's fine Sir, you have done what you think is best for Pakistan.”

Sarfaraz signed off by saying, “There is nothing to regret about it (losing captaincy) I tried to win as many matches for Pakistan as I could during my time as captain. PCB picked who they thought will lead the side in a better way in the future and I hope Babar brings more glory to the nation.”
