Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for Stars, taking 2 for 27 in his 4 overs. Simon Harmer also claimed a couple of wickets by conceding 30 runs.

In reply, Stars lost Chris Gayle (18) early. Afterwards, the duo of Reeza Hendricks and skipper Temba Bavuma added 70 runs for the second wicket to put the team in a strong position.

But as soon as Junior Dala dismissed Bavuma on 33, Jozi Stars’ middle-order fell apart. Dala also removed Rassie van der Dussen (17) while Imran Tahir and Chris Morris got rid of Hendricks (62 off 58 balls) and Daniel Christian (2) respectively.

Captain JJ Smuts (1/31) and Nandre Burger (0/25) too bowled well as the Giants managed to restrict Stars to 143/5 in 20 overs, securing a comprehensive 24-run victory.
