Former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers won't be playing the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 5 in 2020 as he has decided not to participate in the upcoming players' draft to be held in December 2019.

De Villiers had played the last season of PSL for Lahore Qalandars. Although he had to pull out of the edition midway because of injury, he played seven matches for Lahore Qalandars, smashing 218 runs, including a half-century, at 54.50 playing in the PSL 2019.

The 35-year-old former international cricketer is currently playing Mzansi Super League for Tshwane Spartans. And then will play in the Big Bash League, where he will represent Brisbane Heat in Australia's T20 league.

The PCB has indicated that the upcoming PSL 2020 edition will be played completely in Pakistan and this might be the reason behind De Villiers pulling out of the players' draft. More foreign players are expected to pull out of the 2020 season as Pakistan is not preferred as a nation by international cricketers because of security concerns.

Recently, cricket returned to Pakistan as they hosted a second-string Sri Lanka team for three T20Is and three ODI matches. It was after a decade that the Islanders traveled to Pakistan for international matches, though big-name players refused to travel.
