Ahead of the crucial Australia A’s 3-day practice match against Pakistan, Marcus Harris was sounded confident about his game despite having been in and out of the national squad due to his inconsistency.

The Victorian batsman will be fighting out with the likes of Joe Burns, Usman Khawaja, Travis Head, Will Pucovski, and Nic Maddinson in the practice game starting from November 11, Monday, at the Perth Stadium to find a spot in the Test squad for the 2-match series against Pakistan.

Harris had a nightmare Ashes series having failed to score more than 20 in the last 3 matches against England, but he is still confident about his game and feels he going in right direction, insisting that he won’t ‘spiral out of control’ to score runs needed to cement his place in the Australian Test team.

However, the left-hander, who has played nine Tests since last December and averaged just 24.06, was impressive in the domestic red-ball cricket, averaging more than 50 in the Sheffield Shield so far.

Harris said of his game, “You can get to that point where you just go above and beyond and you can spiral out of control. So, I just try to stay level, as much as I can. I never felt like I got out of form in England, because I was not out there long enough to get out of form.”

On Shield show, the 27-year-old added: “I came back confident ... I knew my game was in good stead. It's been a good initiation, tough, I probably haven't done as well as I wanted. But in the same breath I've come in early against some high-class attacks, so it's been a great learning curve.”

He signed off by saying, “I feel like I'm doing everything right. I've left myself in this situation, but it's just part of being a professional cricketer and I don't lose any sleep over it.”
